Tomi Jo’s Growing Pains

Pop

There's something truly special about Tomi Jo. Her voice is one of the most powerful assets I've seen in an artist. Rather than rely on her quality ukelele skills, Tomi Jo put all her stakes into producing a radio-quality pop EP, and boy did it pay off. Growing Pains consists of five absolute hits.

The well-polished project opens with the somber and intrusive Homesick, beginning to explain the soreness of Tomi's past traumas. Up is a reminiscent ballad of a lost relationship where she battles between selfishness and good morals. Bad Trip is a trap-inspired psychedelic journey in which Tomi must come to terms with the woman in the mirror being "not who I want to be". I'm Okay Though is an anthem of growth, learning to live with trauma, and being truthful with oneself. The stunning 15-minute showcase comes to a close with the title track of Growing Pains. Producing a song that could easily dominate radio airwaves, Tomi Jo reflects on her life in recent years, able to recognize her maturation and healing.
